The Illinois Association of Community College Biologists was founded in 1972 as an organization to facilitate:

Professional Communication - dissemination and evaluation of new discoveries, initiatives, methods, techniques, and curricular offerings in the life sciences

Articulation - ensuring a smooth transition for students transferring community college life science credits to universities

Professional Standards - promulgation of standards for entry and continued practice in the profession of community college life sciences instruction

Welfare - development of guidelines concerning equitable working conditions conducive to excellence in instruction

Legislation - providing information and advice to legislative and governing bodies, to the membership of the organization, and to the general public concerning the life sciences in higher education
Past Speakers
Each year speakers are selected to include a balance from across the life sciences: ecology/citizen science, anatomy & physiology, microbiology / public health, evolutionary biology, developmental / cell/ molecular biology, and best practices in the teaching of biology at the community college level. There's something on offer for everyone!
