The
Illinois Association of Community College Biologists seeks to promote
excellence in teaching and learning throughout the state of Illinois,
with a primary emphasis on providing a forum for communication and
collegiality.
The annual conference invites speakers with expertise in
a variety of biological disciplines, which serves to update members on
the current understanding in the discipline presented. Panel
discussions at the conference address concerns in educational
theory and practice, curricular items and course articulation (IAI)
issues. Instructional practice "swap sessions" allow educators
to exchange valuable tips on teaching difficult concepts. And, scientific and laboratory equipment specialists as well as textbook
publishers demonstrate current offerings-texts, instructional software,
course management tools, and scientific and laboratory equipment. The annual conference
overall- provides information sharing on many levels, and an
opportunity to network with the best educators in the state.
